How would you describe your desired Manchester of the future? What would you want Manchester to be known for in twenty years? Use as little as one word or as many as you want!

unique, funky, democratic, fun, artsy, hip, full of outdoor recreational opportunities, strong institutions including libraries and schools, dense vibrant downtown

Cutting edge. I’d like to see more tech jobs come to Manchester, but more importantly with that come a greater pride in what the city has to offer. Better public transportation, places to shop/eat, cleaner streets and parks. As a person with young kids, I’d like to not only be able to work here in tech but feel safe enough to continue to live here without moving to surrounding suburbs.

Pessimistic. The homeless are winning. Moved here in 2008 while the city was on the up swing. Looking at moving out within the next year. I think the policy on the drug addicts & homeless taking over every bench in every park needs to be tougher..

I agree with you on the homelessness problem but I would not say the future is pessimistic. It is really shame that folks will not come to Manchester because of the negative reputation it has due to the homeless population. Not only that but even if people come to Manchester to visit they often will not come back because they are intimidated. Not all homelessness is bad, for some people it is a choice, but many of the population here are hooked on drugs and really give off a negative vibe. I have heard of a couple cities that buy homeless people one way bus tickets to L.A..... Just saying. I know more needs to be done to combat this but honestly I think everyone is at a loss as to what to do. I am still optimistic.

Progressive. I'd like to see a walkable city. That's what concord is. I'd like to see record stores, a co-op that is in the city, not in Bedford (even though it was Manchester citizens who funded that venture). I like the 5k events, but the way it messes up traffic is bad. They need to have the events when it won't mess up traffic, like in the morning on a Saturday.

Anything to make it more walkable so it feels more like a city than a suburb. The best events are when streets are closed off and people are free to walk them.

I wish for Manchester to be a functioning city/town with less drug users and more attractions (Such as more store space). Also, address the road situation. The roads in Manchester are bumpy and uncomfortable. Let's have a smooth and clean city with no littering and no racism. I know that this sounds like the perfect world but it should at least be somewhat close to what I request. Thank you.

A connected city, a city connected by transit, a walkable city, a city on the rise!
